Overview

This position is responsible for the growth and development of Bi-Con employees. The position helps develop and administer curriculum to encompass owner/operator required common covered tasks and provide employees with the knowledge to complete work by using the proper procedures and safety requirements. The position facilitates and develops trainings to comply with federal regulations, customer guidelines and company policies and procedures. This position is located at our office in Cambridge, Ohio with travel to various job sites within a 500 mile radius. 

Responsibilities

  • Provide safety training for established programs on specific topics as required.
  • General oversight, delivery, and development of key training events such as New Hire Orientation and technical skills training sessions.
  • Develop training classes for field employees.
  • Enforce the safety objectives, policies, procedures, and performance standards within the boundaries of the Bi-Con Safety Manual, OSHA, EPA and other regulatory requirements, and customer specific requirements.
  • Serve as support for field safety employees and jobsites as needed.
  • Maintains an in-depth knowledge of all laws surrounding manufacturing and construction safety.
  • Attend and participate in Safety Meetings and/or Continuous Improvement Teams.
  • Make recommendations regarding company policies and procedures relating to safety issues.
  • Assist in maintenance of training databases/documentation.
  • Participate in accident investigation and ascertain causes for use in recommending preventative safety measures and development of safety program.
  • General oversight of the Mobile Training Unit, and its contents.
  • Participate in incident investigation and ascertain causes for use in recommending preventative safety measures and development of safety program.
  • Prepare and conduct training programs for skill/craft development and improvement (supervisor training, computer training, craft training, apprenticeship program, cross training, welder school, equipment operator schooling and licensing (crane, forklift, etc.)).
  • Assist with the company Operator Qualification (OQ) program.
  • Maintain certified Operator Qualification (OQ) training / evaluator capabilities within the company.
  • Review and make recommendations regarding company policies and procedures relating to safety issues.
  • Act as a translator for jobsite communication and work instructions.
  • Translate company documents from English to Spanish as needed.
  • Assist in communication with Spanish speaking employees.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • 5 + years of safety related experience, preferably in a Construction EHS capacity.
  • Four-year degree in Safety, Environmental, Industrial Hygiene or related field or commensurate work experience.
  • Construction related background preferred.
  • Bilingual proficiency in Spanish.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively with large crowds and in crucial conversations.
  • Excellent communication skills; verbal, written and interpersonal.
  • Construction OSHA Outreach trainer.
  • A working knowledge of OSHA 1910 and OSHA 1926.
  • Work will involve field, manufacturing, and office setting.
  • Excellent organization, time management and communication skills required.
  • Ability to work in a team environment and independently.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism when dealing with highly sensitive issues or information.
  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Preferred certifications: CSP or CHST Certificate, NCCER Master Trainer, Veriforce Evaluator, ITS Evaluator, EWN Evaluator, OSHA Outreach Trainer, Safeland Trainer, JLG or other equipment trainer.
  • Expected travel time (in the field) 20%.

**The goal of the position is to increase the awareness, understanding and implementation of safety practices for Bi-Con employees, our subcontractors, our clients, third parties within our operations, and the public.
