Overview

Currently seeking caniddates that can supervise and execute construction projects primarily in the natural gas industry. This position requires broad knowledge of industry requirements and best practices. Position requires a strong focus on project planning, execution, and cost. Project Superintenent must be capable of leading company expectations and initiatives thoughout their team. This position is a travel position and jobsites can range from OH, WV, PA, NC, VA, NY, KY, MI (working a 10 and 4 schedule). 

 

**Bi-Con Services employees working in safety-sensitive positions are drug and alcohol tested under the federal DOT regulations.Testing is conducted for pre-employment, on a random basis (according to the requirements of DOT), reasonable suspicion and post-accident (according to the requirements of DOT.) Under DOT regulations, marijuana, whether with a medical prescription or not, is considered an illegal substance.  

Responsibilities

  • Promote the company’s safety culture.
  • Plan construction operations based on the project estimate, plan and specifications.
  • Create and manage detailed construction schedule.
  • Manage construction operations in coordination with project schedule.
  • Forecast current and future manpower needs in coordination with estimate and project needs.
  • Review and follow the contract and project documents.
  • Understand and carry out proper construction procedures and methods.
  • Maintain business relationship with suppliers.
  • Maintain professional business relationship with customer project team.
  • Order and schedule equipment and arrange for repairs and maintenance in field.
  • Attend pre-job meetings with client and project manager.
  • Each billing cycle, estimate quantities or percentages complete for projected invoicing.
  • Clarify specifications and drawings for field employees.
  • Work out discrepancies with client field representatives.
  • Perform work to conform to specifications and drawings.
  • Manage subcontractors and hold them accountable for safety, schedule and budget.
  • Check material requirements, review purchase orders. Verify delivery dates will meet schedule requirements.  Receive, inventory, and control material flow to expedite job completion.
  • Review office and clerical work. Include reviewing and signing of daily bulletins and extra work orders.
  • Assign work activities to employees.
  • Identify and correct any unsafe conditions or practices on jobsite. Hold job meetings, familiarizing field people with applicable laws.  Inspect site for unsafe conditions that may have been overlooked and obtain safety equipment and material needed to conduct a safe job. 
      • Hold tool box meetings. Keep record of attendees.
      • OSHA – Accident Reports with accurate information.
      • Document and submit Take 5’s per Bi-Con Policy.
  • Prepare and submit all information necessary for control and billing of “extra work”.
  • Record and distribute records of all items likely to be important in future negotiations.
  • Other work necessary for most economic completion of the project.
  • Each day, provide a daily report containing the time for the day and a detailed description of the day’s activities.
  • Each week, provide a weekly report containing a description of the activities performed this past week, the activities to be performed in the next two weeks as well as any action items.
  • Daily coordination with Project Manager covering project status, needs, impacts, and concerns.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated track record of successful goal achievement.
  • Demonstrates the ability to read and interpret contracts, budgets, reports, construction drawings and technical manuals.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks.
  • Excellent communication skills; verbal, written and interpersonal.
  • Ability to anticipate problems and use sound judgement and tact in handling confidential and other matters.
  • A minimum of 10 years construction project experience and a thorough knowledge of the natural gas industry.
  • Familiar with reading and understanding construction critical path schedules.

Other:

  • Must be able to stand and walk for long periods of time.
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
  • This is a field position and requires 100% travel with occasional office work.
  • This position is subjected to the elements (heat, cold, rain, snow, etc.).
